Hi my windows vista basic cdrom driver has stopped working it will not let me put in norton security so there fore i have none. Have done many scans of registry and other checks it says that it needs a pc tool to do a clean up and to make it faster as it has gone very slow. Is there a free download that will do a clean up and fix my cdrom . please can anybody help.

What's telling you need a pc tool to fix a problem? It's possible that you've inadvertently got something nasty on your computer that's just goading you to install something even nastier...

I agree with what Duncan Henderson says. Also you could do a system restore which could undo anything nasty which happened. If you do have some sort of virus, a system restore will do little I doubt. Hope you get things fixed.
